All the Audio Note™ ARM versions are a rewired version of the REGA RB250. The RB250 has proven to sound better than the RB300 arm, which is why we have now changed to the RB250 exclusively. The ARM One/Two and Three are very suitable for the Audio Note™ IQ1, IQ2, IQ3 and IoI cartridges, the heavier Io cartridges are not suited for these two arms.

The ARM One, Two and Three are designed for the Audio Note™ AN-TT Zero, AN-TT One and AN-TT Two turntables, but will work very well on the AN-TT Three varieties as well as on most other turntables.

AN-1s/AN-V

All Audio Note™ AN-1s tone arms are available with 6 wires for use with the Audio Note™ Io Ltd. moving coil cartridge the two additional wires are for the DC feed to the electromagnets from the power supply. The AN-1s arms are designed specifically for the AN-TT Three turntables, but will work very well on most other manufacturer’s turntables as well, if Audio Note™ is provided with the necessary drawings, we can provide arm boards for most other brands.

Although the TT-1 would appear an entry level product, we have not compromised on component quality; You still have a solidly built chassis, acrylic platter and precision bearing that should last a lifetime.

Two motor version of the TT-1 with increased torque and stability. Three point suspended sub chassis, acrylic platter, available in black ash only.

Turntable TT-3

The new TT Three Reference have 3 of these massive motors each pulling with about 2 BHP, giving a platter mass-inertia equivalent of well over half a ton (!) but without the usual and considerable energy storage drawbacks of a high mass platter. The motors draw so much power that each motor has its own power supply, so that makes 3 boxes.

CD-1.1x

he CD 1.1x uses the Philips L1210 mechanism and a simple yet revealing DAC made with the 1543 16 bit multi-bit digital to analogue converter chip. This player, like its bigger brothers, features no oversampling, no digital or analogue filtering. This makes for a highly effective sonic combination all housed in a new, smaller chassis which measures just 91 x 440 x 235 mm (HWD)

CD-2.1x Mk.II

The CD 2.1x/II is-essentially a component upgraded version of the CD1.1x. Better parts, such as high grade Audio Note tantalum resistors, a few scattered Black Gate capacitors and Audio Note copper foil output capacitors make for a more open, detailed and lively performance than the CD-1.1x. The CD 2.1x Mk.II uses the Philips L1210 mechanism and a simple yet revealing DAC made with the 1543 16 bit multi-bit digital to analogue converter chip. CD-4.1x

This is a completely new player, taking the one box CD player places it has never gone before. It consists of a CDT Two/II paired with a slightly upgraded DAC2.1x Audo Note tantalum resistors and Black Gate caps on the digital PCB and Audio Note copper foil capacitors on the output, housed in an OTO-sized chassis. Special attention has been placed on the power supplies in this unit - even the display has its own supply to reduce internal noise way beyond what standards call for. Combined with its clock-locked direct coupling between the transport and DAC makes this player a musical feast with a rich and deeply textured programme.

DAC 1.1x / II

The DAC 1.1x/II digital to analogue converter uses Audio Note™ 1Xoversampling™ and Direct From Disc™ techniques which in our opinion has proven to be musically superior to other over sampling methods. The kit uses the well proven Crystal CS8412CP input receiver, and the DAC chip is the Analog Devices dual 18bit AD1865. The tube output stage uses a single ECC82 as a common cathode amplifier which provides voltage gain to allow the DAC 1.1x/II to be used with any active preamplifier and some passive preamplifiers.

DAC 1.1x / II Signature

As DAC One.1x with upgraded components, AN ½ watt tants, Black Gate™ capacitors, Audio Note™ copper foil signal caps and copper wired digital input transformer in powder coated chassis with black acrylic or brushed aluminium front panel. Anode follower no feedback (NFB) output stage. The demultiplexing circuit makes this compatible with 24Bit/96KHz sources including DVD, computer etc.

Amplifiers

Since we introduced the original M3 pre-amplifier in 1996, based on circuitry developed 1994/95. The M3 and its derivatives have proved quite a success, year on year they have consistently won “Pre-Amplifier of the Year” by Hi-Fi Review in HK starting in 2001 and pretty much every year since then. The M3 pre-amplifier family were technically the most advanced (and strangely enough, at the same time quite backward looking) line of high quality pre-amplifier available, with its dual mono double choke valve rectified power supplies, optimised output transformers and powerful high gain line stage, it will remain the standard in pre-amplifier topology for years to come and as a result is already widely copied, but our quest for improvement does not stand still, and when our research and development reached its current pinnacle with the patented M10 Galahad power supply, Andy and I decided that it was time to seek to improve the M3 – M8 pre-amplifier’s power supply in line with what we had learned from developing the M10, so in very late 2003 (actually product only really shipped in January 2004) the “Mini”-Galahad supply was born and implemented into the M3, M5, M6 and M8 pre-amplifiers and development work on the M9 started. The new M3 – M8 supply incorporates what is essentially a simplified M10 configuration where we rather than using the old input choke arrangement, which has now proven to be somewhat dynamically restricting we have a feed-forward supply with a rectifier (the usual trusty 6X5), regulator (ECL82/6BM8) and a voltage stabilizer (OB2) an arrangement that needs much less filtering capacitance and results in a supply that traces the signal stages requirements far more closely than anything else, the result is quite spectacular!

M9 Phono

Why Did We Design the M9Phono? Being a major record collector, I have always felt the need for a top flight pre-amplifier which was focussed on getting the absolutely best from the LP, whether mono or stereo, the M9 is therefore designed as a proper record collector’s control centre and features a stereo – mono switch and the most direct and cleanest signal path possible, with no tape input or loop, it is really designed to maximise the quality of all LPs made with the RIAA curve, whether mono or stereo.

M10 Line

The main feature of the M10 is it power supplies, it is a stereo control center with two MEISHU size boxes for the line stage alone. Component quality? The best components we currently offer, except silver wired chokes and mains transformers, otherwise C-core power supply transformers where possible. The Galahad power supplies are really the main feature, these patent applied for units provide the circuit with “ better than battery” quality voltage and current, featuring 1 x EL34, 1 x 6X5, 1 x 5Y3, 1 x OD3, 1 x 6SL7. The line stage unit has custom made Audio Note™ 99.99% pure silver wired transformer coupled balanced inputs and outputs, calibrated mono volume controls, enough inputs and outputs. Only the best sounding NOS ECC82/12AU7 and the 6463 double triodes the diamond marked Telefunken!

M1 RIAA

Stand alone moving magnet phono stage, based on the M1Phono. No feedback ECC83 + ECC88 dual triode output stage

M2 RIAA

Stand alone standard chassis style MM phono equaliser, no controls. Zero feedback.

R Zero/II phono stage

1x 6112WA on the input, 1x 6111WA on the output. More gain than the old version and a more intimate presentation.

Loudspeaker Placement

The Audio Note AN-E/La is a highly versatile loudspeaker which will provide satisfying performance in most listening environments. For optimal tonal balance, the AN-E/La should be used on a stand of 24 - 27cm (10 inches) in height, for best results, use spiked high-mass stands that can hold the speaker so firmly that even if the top of the speaker is pushed, it will not move at all. Alternatively, light open-frame stands will give decent results provided they have spikes rigidly coupling them to the floor, (through carpet if present.) The speakers should be coupled to the stand by placing four pea-sized balls of Blu Tack on the stand’s top and pushing the speaker down onto these so that they are flattened. (We have included some of this Blu Tack with the instructions and warranty card.)

Speaker Developments

As part of our continued commitment to improving every aspect of our product range, over the past 4 years we have developed a hemp paper cone to replace the conventional paper cone we have used successfully for many years, the hemp cone adds a further layer of low level information to our speakers already superior subtlety.

Whilst the AZ range is designed for use with the Audio Note Zero Level electronics, the AZ range is very versatile and performs well with most small transistor amplifiers as well as with higher levels of Audio Note amplification.

AX-1

The AX range as designed as a general purpose small loudspeakers, and will work well with almost any amplifier. Heavy loudspeaker stands should be used. The offer the same stands as are used for the AN-K model speakers. We offer the same finishes as AZ range, packed as 1 pair per box with front grills.

AX-2

AN-K

The The AN-K is a bookshelf-sized loudspeaker capable of a bandwidth from 50 Hz to 20 Hz (-6 dB) with an efficiency of around 90 dB/m. Careful pair matching, first by drive unit selection, secondly by pairing drive units with suitable characteristics to each other, and then finally by individually adjusting each speakers curve, under dynamic conditions to a master curve.

AN-J

The AN-J models offer higher sensitivity and better bass performance, combined with a more dynamic presentation than the AN-K, in an enclosure that is about three times the volume. The AN-J is a ported enclosure with an efficiency better than 93 dB/m and bass that goes down to 25 Hz at -6 dB. The AN-J is capable of reproducing the scale and intensity of most well-recorded music very realistically. Like all our other loudspeakers, the AN-J undergoes the same painstaking driver selection and matching process, which ensures the closest tolerances within a pair in the entire audio industry.

AN-E

The AN-E must be the most efficient wide band speaker of moderate size on the market, with an effective bandwidth from 18 Hz to 23 kHz at -6 dB, efficiency better than 95 dB/m and a dynamic headroom above 108 dB. The extremely high efficiency is retained well over the bandwidth, and makes the AN-E very suited to the high quality, low-power triode amplifiers that will form the future of music reproduction, once our obsession with power and specifications is generally recognized as folly. The AN-E is a two-way, ported enclosure, with a carefully designed cabinet which is shaped to enhance and aid driver dispersion on one hand, and bass output on the other. The cabinet is lightly braced and little internal damping is used. The cabinet is designed in such a way that it augments and supports the drivers in their task, not unlike the box of a guitar. The drivers are selected and paired before they are matched to the crossover in the same process as the AN-K and AN-J.
